Kane County Cougars News Release

BURLINGTON, Iowa - The Kane County Cougars commanded most of their game on Tuesday night against the Burlington Bees at Community Field, but starter Jason Adam gave up a two-run homer in the seventh, and the Bees held on to beat the Cougars, 4-3. The Cougars had not trailed at any point before that, and they have lost 10 of their last 15 games.

Brian Fletcher returned to the Cougars' lineup in full force. He was activated from the disabled list before Tuesday's game and had not played since May 10, but he delivered a first-inning RBI double off Tyler Vail to score Angel Franco for a 1-0 lead. Then Brett Eibner singled home Yowill Espinal in the third to make it 2-0. It was Eibner's first hit and RBI since returning from his long disabled list stint. The Bees tied the game in the fourth on a two-out two-run homer by Tony Thompson, but the Cougars quickly regained control. Cheslor Cuthbert notched a two-out RBI single in the fifth to bring home Alex Llanos for a 3-2 lead.

That advantage remained until the seventh when Yordy Cabrera homered off Adam (2-2), who retired seven straight before the frame. The pair of two-run shots off Adam were two of the five hits he allowed, and he also walked just one and fanned seven over 6 1/3 innings in the loss. Mitch Hodge and Chase Boruff combined for 1 2/3 scoreless innings, but the Cougars' offense was silenced by Pedro Vidal (5-1) and Dan Tenholder, who retired 10 straight to end it.
