Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The TinCaps were swept in a doubleheader by the Dayton Dragons, losing 5-0 in Game 1, then 4-2 in the nightcap. Rymer Liriano had hits in each game to extend his hit streak to 17 games.

In Game 1, the Dragons scored all of their runs in the first two innings. Back-to-back RBI singles by David Vidal and Juan Duran capped a three-run first inning. In the second, Devin Lohman lifted a sacrifice fly, then Dominic D'Anna smacked an RBI single to make it 5-0.

The TinCaps bullpen kept the Dragons quiet from there, allowing just one hit in five innings.

RHP Zach Cates (1-4) took the loss, allowing the five runs on seven hits in two innings. Dayton RHP Josh Smith (7-3) was dominant, firing six scoreless innings in the win.

Errors, both offensive and defensive, cost the TinCaps in Game 2. Fort Wayne took the lead in the second inning when Chris Bisson legged out an RBI infield hit to plate Mykal Stokes.

After the Dragons tied it with an unearned run in the top of the third, the TinCaps tied it in the bottom of the inning when Luis Domoromo cracked an RBI double to left making it 2-1. Fort Wayne failed to score additional runs as Dayton RHP Kyle Lotzkar struck out the side.

In the sixth, Dayton plated another unearned run. Yorman Rodriguez led off by reaching on a dropped pop-up and scored on Vidal's RBI groundout to tie the game at 2-2. Fort Wayne had the leadoff man on base in the bottom of the sixth, but couldn't lay down a bunt and failed to score.

The Dragons took advantage of miscues and took the lead in the top of the seventh. Theo Bowe led off with an infield hit and stole second. He scored when Billy Hamilton reached on an error, giving Dayton a 3-2 lead. Hamilton later scored on Rodriguez's bunt single.

Dayton RHP Pat Doyle (4-2) picked up the win in relief. RHP Drew Hayes stayed perfect in seven save chances despite allowing the winning run to come to the plate. TinCaps RHP Adam Dominick (2-4) took the tough-luck loss.

The TinCaps struck out 15 times in Game 2. The losses dropped their record to 28-36; Dayton upped its record to 33-32.

The TinCaps and Dragons (Class-A Cincinnati Reds) continue the four-game series Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. Fort Wayne RHP Matt Jackson (3-1) goes against Dayton RHP Daniel Corcino (7-3).
