Beloit, WI – The Kane County Cougars pounded four home runs for the first time this season in a 12 – 1 drubbing of Beloit at Pohlman Field Friday night. The big shot of the night was a bases loaded grand slam from Kory Wayment as he went 2- 3 with two homers and seven RBIs in the win against the Snappers.

The Cougars jumped out on top when in their first at bat Vasili Spanos cracked a two run homer, his seventh of the year grabbing a quick 2 – 0 lead. The Snappers answered with a homer in the bottom of the inning from Will Lewis his third of the season to make it a 2 – 1 game.

The Cougars played long ball again in the second inning when Kory Wayment knocked his third dinger of the year, a two run shot scoring Trevor Brown to make it a 4 – 1 game.

The very next inning, Wayment went deep again, this time a grand slam over the left-field wall to give the Cougars an 8 – 1 game. It was the sixth time this season that he Cougars have hit a grand slam in a ballgame.

The Cougars would add another run in the fourth inning on an RBI double off the left field wall by David Castillo to make it a 9 – 1 lead.

Starting pitcher Brad Knox picked up his seventh win of the year going six innings allowing one run while scattering five hits with three strikeouts. After the Cougars added another run in the seventh and two more in the ninth on a two run shot from Brian Snyder to set the final score at 12 - 1, J.R. Pickens and Jose Corchado worked the final three innings to nail down the win.

The Cougars play game three of the four game set Saturday, as the ten game road trip continues. The Cougars will send the right-hander Chris Dunwell to the mound to face right-handed Greg Moreira in the 7:00 p.m. game.
