Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
FOX CITIES STADIUM -- The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers beat the Peoria Chiefs 7-2 Friday night to even up their second half record at 1-1. Nibaldo Acosta earned his fourth win of the season by allowing one run in six innings. Adam Jones had three hits, two runs, and an RBI for the Rattlers. Chris Collins added a two run double to help the cause.
Wisconsin (32-39, 1-1) scored a pair of runs in the second inning. They loaded the bases on an Eric Blakeley triple and back-to-back walks to Michael Cox. Josh Womack sent a slow grounder back up the middle for an infield single to drive in one run. Peoria shortstop Omar Pena threw late and wild to first allowing Cox to score from second.
A wild throw by Pena led to another Rattler run in the third. Jones tripled to start the inning. With one out, Chris Colton sent a high chopper to short. Pena threw wide of the plate in trying to get Jones and the Rattlers were up 3-0.
The Rattlers knocked Peoria starter Cristobal Correa out of the game with four straight hits in the bottom of the fifth. Womack and Nick Orlandos each had singles. Jones drove in Womack with another single. Collins knocked in a pair with a double to left-center.
Peoria got on the board with an RBI double by Cody Haerther in the top of the sixth. Acosta left after the sixth with five strikeouts and a 7-1 lead.
Rattler reliever Brad Rose gave up a lead-off homer to John-Paul Davis in the top of the seventh. That was all Peoria would get and the Rattlers picked up the win.
Game three of the series between the Rattlers and Chiefs is Saturday night. Ryan Feierabend (6-3, 3.91ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rattlers. Jordan Pals (4-2, 3.38ERA) is scheduled to start for Peoria. Game time is 7:05pm.
