Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors have acquired center Brian Collins and future considerations from the Pensacola Ice Pilots in exchange for defenseman Nate Metcalf.

Collins, 25, is in his third professional season and has earned a reputation as an offensive workhorse. The Shrewsbury, Mass. native has played in 190 games since the start of the 2003-04 season. Collins has appeared in 38 games with Pensacola this season with eight goals and ten assists to his credit. Collins played every game in his rookie season with Pensacola in 2003-04, then surpassed that total with 80 regular season appearances between three teams in 2004-05. Collins played five games with the Worcester Ice Cats of the American Hockey League last year, with an assist under his belt during that time. He was drafted by the New York Islanders in the third round of the 1999 NHL Draft.

The 6-foot, 195-pound center played every game during his four seasons with the Boston University Terriers, with 50 goals and 49 assists in 159 collegiate games. As a freshman, Collins scored the game-tying goal against St. Lawrence University in a quadruple-overtime NCAA tournament game that is on record as the second-longest game in college hockey history.

Metcalf, 25, scored three goals and seven assists in 36 games with the Condors this season. The 6- foot-4 defenseman attended the Los Angeles Kings Rookie Camp this summer. He recorded a goal and two assists against San Diego on November 4th.

"After losing [Alexandre] Bolduc, we lost some speed up the middle," said Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond. "We gain some speed back with Brian. He's a 25 goal scorer and he's a top six forward. We're excited to have him."

The Condors will also receive a player from Pensacola to be announced by February 6th.

Bakersfield hosts San Diego on Friday, February 3rd, as the ZOOperstars visit Condorstown sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and Rio Bravo Country Club. On Saturday, February 4th, the Condors take on the Las Vegas Wranglers on Playing Card Giveaway & Poker Night. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a deck of Condors Playing Cards courtesy of 93.1 Pirate Radio and Carl's Jr.
