Titans axed by Chiefs, 5-0

JOHNSTOWN, PA (February 1, 2006) - A four-goal period by the Johnstown Chiefs helped hand the Trenton Titans a 5-0 loss Wednesday night at Cambria County War Memorial.

After a scoreless first period, the Chiefs started the scoring spree when J.B. Bittner tipped Steve Cygan's centering pass past Scott Stirling for a 1-0 lead at 5:42 of the second.

Brad Thompson made it 2-0 on the power play when he picked up a loose puck in the slot and snuck a backhander inside the near post for his third of the year.

After John Toffey added another even-strength goal at 11:22, Johnstown notched the scoring trifecta when Doug Andress completed a shorthanded 2-on-1 to make it 4-0 in favor of the Chiefs with just 1:20 left in the middle period.

Cygan notched his fourth tally of the season at 3:27 of the third to complete the scoring.

In his first start for the Titans since October 29, Stirling suffered his first regulation loss with Trenton this season making 35 of 40 saves.

The Titans were 0-for-6 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.
