Schell Becomes Fourth Gladiator to Win Award

The ECHL announced today that Gladiators forward Brad Schell has been named the ECHL InGlasCo Player of the week for January 22nd through January 29th. Schell becomes the fourth player this season on the Gladiators to be named player of the week.

Assigned to the Gladiators from the Chicago Wolves on Friday, January 27th, Schell posted a goal and two assists to help the Gladiators to a 5-4 win over Columbia on Saturday night. He then followed that up with a five point night off a goal and 4 assists in a 7-3 win over Columbia on Sunday afternoon.

Schell's four assists on Sunday again tied a team record for most assists in a game for Gwinnett. It was the second time this season that he tied the record as he picked up 4 assists for the Gladiators in a 7-4 win over Pensacola on November 15th. His five points also tied a team season high this year for points in a game on the Gladiators.

The Scott, Saskatchewan native currently ranks 5th in scoring on Gwinnett with 39 points off of 16 goals and 23 assists in 31 games with the Gladiators. He shares first on the Gladiators in shorthanded goals with three on the year.

Schell posted three points in five games with the Wolves from January 7th to the 27th during his first call up to the AHL.

Drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 6th round of the 2002 NHL draft, Schell appeared in all 72 games last season for the Gladiators posting 53 points off of 14 goals and 39 assists.

The Gwinnett Gladiators continue the 2005-06 ECHL season on the road as they travel to Charlotte to take on the Checkers at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, February 2nd.
