Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs (22-16-5) have played very well as of late, but the Alaska Aces (34-6-3) put an end to their nine game unbeaten streak with a 3-1 victory at the Long Beach Arena. While the Ice Dogs have been a very strong road team at 14-5-2, their record at home fell to 8-11-3.

Alaska scored the first goal of the game at 4:47 of the opening period. Corbin Schmidt got the goal with assists to Vladimir Novak and Mike Lee. Less than five minutes later, the Aces struck again to take a 2-0 lead by veteran Kimbi Daniels on the power play. He was assisted by Joe Talbot and Ryan Gaucher.

At 14:21 of the second period, Sean McAslan cut the Ice Dogs' deficit in half on the power play with assists to all-stars Christian Larrivee and Steeve Villeneuve.

In the third the Ice Dogs had several chances to tie the score, including a shot that nearly went in but was ruled as no goal after determining it didn't completely cross the plane of the goal line. With the goaltender pulled, the Ice Dogs gave up their third and final goal to Daniels with an assist to Mike Scott with just 12 seconds remaining.

Jaroslav Halak was solid in net with 23 saves despite his first regulation loss in seven games. Matt Underhill got the win for Alaska with 32 saves. The Ice Dogs were 1-6 on the power play as were the Aces.

The Ice Dogs' next game is Friday night versus the Las Vegas Wranglers at the Long Beach Arena. Game time is at 7:30pm. For more information call (562) ICE-DOGS for visit www.icedogs.com.
