Sleigher Named Player of the Month

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls have announced that center Pierre-Luc Sleigher has been named the Jewelry Designs by Stuart Benjamin & Company and Kristy's MVP Player of the Month for January. Sleigher will be presented the award in a pre-game ceremony before the Feb. 18 game against the Victoria Salmon Kings.

Sleigher led the Gulls in a bunch of offensive categories in January: points (15), assists (nine), plus-minus (+4) and game-winning goals (two). His six goals during the month was tied for the club lead with Jesse Bennefield.

The third-year pro, who will turn 24 on Feb. 12, has points in 11 of the last 14 games - 19 during that span (8g, 11a). Sleigher had four multi-point games in January, which included two three-point nights. Sleigher earned a career-high three assists in San Diego's 6-2 win against Utah on Jan. 7 and recorded a goal and two assists in San Diego's 6-3 win against Bakersfield on Jan. 13.

Overall, Sleigher has 30 points (13g, 17a) in 40 games, which ranks him fourth on the club. His career-high for points in one season is 38, set during his rookie year with Atlantic City in 2003-04.

In 143 professional games, Sleigher has notched 101 points (40g, 61a) and 338 penalty minutes.
