BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kevin Truelson and Jason Norrie scored 24 seconds apart in the third period, but it would not be enough to overcome five second- period goals by the Victoria Salmon Kings as the Bakersfield Condors (13-14-5) were handed a 6-2 defeat in front of 5,518 fans at the Rabobank Arena.

The game's first twenty minutes was dominated by play along the boards and carried a scoreless game into the second period.

Victoria opened the middle frame with a goal thanks to a wrist shot from outside the circles by Lanny Gare just :45 seconds into the period. Mike Josephson of the Salmon Kings would connect twice in the span of three minutes, assisted both times on feeds from Seth Leonard. Gare picked up his second goal of the evening on the rebound off of a Jade Galbraith shot at the bottom of the near circles to give Victoria a four goal lead with 12:23 remaining in the second period.

With 2:24 left until the second intermission, Ryan Wade set himself into the slot and buried a one-timer from Mike Wirll, giving the Salmon Kings a 5-0 lead heading into the third period.

The Condors responded early in the third period when Kevin Truelson sent a off-speed slap shot on net and through the legs of netminder Rob McVicar. Just 24 seconds later, Jason Norrie converted a hard rebound from a Scott Balan slap shot to bring Bakersfield within a 5-2 deficit.

Bakersfield would continue the pressure on the Salmon Kings, but Simon Mangos provided the exclamation point on the evening with under a minute left in the game. Mangos connected on a wrist shot under the crossbar from the bottom of the far circle on the power play to put the game at its final score, 6-2.

Other notes: Kevin Kotyluk suited up for his first game since suffering a broken leg on October 30th against Alaska.

Rob McVicar earned the victory, stopping 25 of 27 Bakersfield shots. Ryan Munce was credited with the loss, making 26 saves on 32 Salmon King chances.

The Condors host Victoria in a return match tomorrow night at Rabobank Arena. The first two thousand fans will have their choice of an Oildale trucker-style hat or a Rosedale Sergeant's cap courtesy of KUZZ 107.9 and National Staffing.
