
'Blades suffer 5-1 loss to Lynx

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (26-11-2) suffered their first loss of the season to the Augusta Lynx (17-20-3) after falling 5-1 on Saturday night at Germain Arena.
The Lynx jumped quickly on the Everblades scoring four times in the first period. It was the fourth time the Everblades have allowed four goals in one period to an opponent this season. Augusta opened the scoring after B.J. Gaustad stole the puck from Everblades goalie Phil Osaer behind the net and fed a pass to Doug Wright who scored at 10:18. Ryan Lang gave the Lynx a 2-0 lead at 14:09. Anthony Battaglia notched the next two goals for Augusta tallying at 16:20 and 19:31 of the first period.
At the start of the second period, Kevin Nastiuk took over in goal for the Everblades and stood tall stopping all 19 shots he faced in the frame. Offensively, Brandon Coalter notched his third goal of the season beating Augusta net-minder Jason Wolfe at 10:28 of the middle period.
Augusta closed out the scoring after Jeff Mason collected a shorthanded goal 4:54 into the third period. The shorthanded tally was Augusta's 10th this season, and it was the sixth allowed by the Everblades.
In goal, Osaer suffered the loss for the Everblades allowing four goals on 15 shots in the opening period, dropping his record to 12-5-2. Nastiuk finished out the game stopping 28 of 29 shots faced. Wolfe earned the win for Augusta by turning away 24 of 25 Florida shots, raising his record to 7-11-0.
The Everblades closed out the night 0-for-3 on the power play, while Augusta finished the game 0-for-5.
With the loss, the Everblades are now 5-1-0 vs. Augusta this season.
The Everblades return to action on Friday, January 27 when they host the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena.
