
Condors drop rubber match to Steelheads 5-3

BOISE, Idaho - The Bakersfield Condors (24-22-2-1, 51pts) made a push to tie the game in the third, but eventually fell 5-3 to the Idaho Steelheads (25-17-3-7, 58pts) in front of 4,840 fans at Qwest Arena Saturday night.
For the second straight night the Condors jumped out to early lead. 5:14 into the period, RW Stephane Goulet stole a puck in the offensive zone and whipped a shot past G Tyler Beskorowany. Bakersfeild increased their lead to 2-0 on the power play just 1:33 later when C Joel Broda snapped a shot from the right circle. Beskorowany was pulled in favor of G Jase Weslosky following the goal. The Steelheads cut the lead in half at 13:04 when LW Adam Huxley slid a rebound past Tordjman, bringing the score to 2-1.
The Steelheads struck for three consecutive goals in the second period. RW Junior Lessard, D Dustin Friesen, and LW Evan Barlow all scored in succession to give the Steelheads a 4-2 lead. Bakersfield was able to add one of their own before the end of the period, as RW Pascal Morency deflected home a pass on the power play at 17:32 to bring the score to 4-3 at the end of the second period.
Despite outshooting the Steelheads 12-4 in the final frame, Idaho F Aki Seitsonen scored the lone goal of the period at 15:12 to secure a 5-3 victory for the Steelheads.
