Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID - Evan Barlow, Junior Lessard, Adam Huxley, and Aki Seitsonen all had multiple points for the Idaho Steelheads Saturday night as the team rallied from an early two-goal hole to defeat the Bakersfield Condors, 5-3, in front of 4,840 fans at Boise's Qwest Arena.

For Barlow, he now has points in his last eight games, tying Idaho's longest point streak of the season.

Bakersfield scored twice in the first seven minutes of the game, prompting Steelheads head coach Hardy Sauter to remove starting goaltender Tyler Beskorowany and replace him with backup Jase Weslosky. The Steelheads got one goal back before the first frame ended when Adam Huxley stuffed a rebound past Josh Tordjman to cut the Condor lead to 2-1 after 20 minutes of hockey.

The Steelheads dominated the second period with three goals to turn the game around. It started with Junior Lessard at 3:33 of the second, his second goal in as many nights, with a long wrister past Tordjman to tie the game at two. At 9:14, Dustin Friesen converted a Guillaume Monast pass into a one-timer to give Idaho a 3-2 lead. Then, just over two minutes later, Lessard's pass through the crease found Evan Barlow, who banged home his ninth of the season to give Idaho a 4-2 lead.

Bakersfield would not go quietly, though. Pascal Morency deflected a Stephane Goulet shot past Weslosky late in the second to give the Condors life going into the final frame. In that final stanza, the Condors buzzed around Weslosky for the first 15 minutes but the rookie goaltender stood tall, turning aside shot after shot to keep Idaho on top.

Finally, at 15:12, Barlow dug a puck out of the near corner and threw a perfect pass onto the tape of Aki Seitsonen between the circles. Seitsonen's shot was true, giving Idaho a two-goal lead and snuffing out Bakersfield's comeback hopes.

With the victory, the Steelheads have earned at least one point in 13 of their last 15 games.

Weslosky, who stopped 26 of 27 shots in relief of Beskorowany, earned the win to improve to 7-6-1 on the season. Tordjman stopped 23 of 28 Idaho shots in the loss.

Idaho remains at home next weekend to host a pair of games against their long-time rival, the Alaska Aces. Game time Friday and Saturday night is 7 PM. Tickets are available at www.idahosteelheads.com or by calling 208.331.TIXS.
