Five different players scored for the Alaska Aces and Adam Courchaine turned aside 28 shots, as the Aces beat the Stockton Thunder 5-2 from Sullivan Arena on Friday night. Alaska improved to 26-18-3 on the year, and 4-0 against Stockton this season. The two clubs return for two more games this weekend on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The Aces scored the first four goals of the game to gain control throughout the evening. Chris Langkow got the scoring started at 12:38 of the opening period. His goal was the first of a game-high, three-point night. Later in the frame, he set up Bryan Miller for a goal at 18:04 to give the Aces a 2-0 lead after one period of play.
Brian Swanson got the only goal of the second period to make it 3-0 Alaska. At 8:33 Swanson redirected a shot in the slot while engaged with Stockton's Jim McKenzie for his 18th goal of the season.
The Aces struck early in the third when Dan Kissel scored in his Aces debut on a terrific set-up from Jonathan Milhouse 3:25 into the third period. The Aces led 4-0, but Stockton tried to engineer a late comeback. Former Aces forward, Jarrett Konkle broke Courchaine's shutout bid at 6:23 with a goal from the left circle, and Chris Lawrence cut the Aces lead to 4-2 with a rebound goal at 10:09. But that's all the Aces would allow, as Courchaine closed the door. Garry Nunn capped the scoring when he swatted a puck out of mid-air at 17:59 past Bryan Pitton to make it 5-2 Alaska.
Adam Courchaine (7-6-1) made 28 saves on 30 shots, earning his second straight win. Bryan Pitton (16-7-2) took the loss, making 22 saves on 27 shots. The Aces power play went 0-3, while the Thunder went 0-1. The Aces were outshot by the Thunder 30-28 in the game.
