Pielmeier Assigned To Jackals

The Elmira Jackals announced on Saturday that they have been assigned goaltender Timo Pielmeier by their NHL affiliate, the Anaheim Ducks.

Pielmeier had been assigned to Elmira by the Ducks on Feb. 7 before being recalled on Feb. 8. With the AHL's Syracuse Crunch this season, Pielmeier has appeared in 27 games, going 10-14-1 with a .901 save percentage and a 3.33 goals-against average. He went 4-2 with the Crunch from Dec. 31 to Jan. 19 with a .921 save percentage and a 2.39 goals-against average and won three-straight games from Oct. 16 to 23, with a .969 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average.

A native of Deggendorf, Germany, Pielmeier tended net in his rookie season of 2009-2010 with the Bakersfield Condors, compiling a 27-22-5 record with a .883 save percentage and a 3.29 goals-against average in a club record 57 games. Pielmeier was named the ECHL's Goaltender of the Month for November of 2009 and played in the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game for the National Conference. He was drafted 83rd overall in the third round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks.

The Jackals meet the Ontario Reign for the second of three-straight games tonight at 10:00 p.m. (ET).
