Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, CA - The Bakersfield Condors have teamed up with the Jamison Childrens' Center Foundation to bring you Jocko's Jackpot, a new season long program that will raise money for the Jamison Childrens' Center. Jocko's Jackpot is a program, which allows fans to sign up and pledge a dollar for every point scored by Condors center Kevin St. Jacques during the regular season. Beginning with the game on Saturday, February 11th fans can stop by the Jamison Childrens' Center table located on the concourse behind section 103 and sign up for the program.

"We are very excited about this program," said the Jamison Childrens' Center Foundation's President, Mark Bonas. "The Condors and their fans are known for their generosity in the community and this program is exactly what we need at the Jamison Childrens Center. We hope to increase awareness as well as raise much-needed funds for the center. Even if fans want to pledge $0.50 a point it adds up and means so much to the kids at the center" said Bonas.

The Jamison Childrens' Center is a center for abused, neglected and abandoned children. The center provides room and board as well as home schooling for all its children. The children at the center range in age from infants to high schoolers and the center houses up to 60 children at one time, averaging over 200 monthly.

"This program has a special meaning to everyone involved," said Condors Director of Community Relations & Development John Ayre. "The Condors organization has been involved with the Jamison Childrens' Center for years now and many players have visited the center. To have Jocko's Jackpot become a reality means a lot to us. During one of our visits I received a paperweight that was painted by a four year old at the center, it reminds me everyday how fortunate I have been to have a loving father who raised me."

"I'm happy to take part in this program", said Condors center Kevin St. Jacques, "I encourage all Condors fans to come down to a game and pledge what they can. I can't help but think of my son whenever I visit the center," added Jocko, "there are a lot of great kids down there that just got dealt a bad hand."

For more information on the program contact the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825).

The Condors return to California next week with road games on Tuesday and Wednesday in Fresno and San Diego, respectively, before coming back home for two games on February 11th and 12th. Fresno comes to town on the 11th with a special concert featuring national recording group Hawk Nelson after the game in Centennial Garden, sponsored by KKEY-TV 11 and Island Style.
