Record Crowds In Las Vegas, Fresno Bolster Attendance

PRINCETON, N.J. - A season-high crowd of 9,032 in Fresno combined with crowds in excess of 7,000 in Florida, Las Vegas and Trenton and over 5,000 in Alaska, Pensacola and Peoria helped the ECHL draw 62,161 and average 5,651 for its 11 games played on Saturday.
Las Vegas had the first-ever sellout at Orleans Arena with 7,773, surpassing the team record of 7,310 on January 8, while Florida had its second sellout of the month and third of the season with 7,125. The league has had 23 sellouts this season led by Victoria which has six sellouts in its temporary home at Bear Mountain Arena. Florida and Alaska have had three sellouts each while Augusta and Idaho have had two sellouts each.
Through the first 15 weeks of the season, the ECHL averaged 3,876 per game which is an increase of five percent from 2003-04 and up 10 percent from 2002-03. Including Monday's game at Las Vegas, the ECHL has drawn 2,183,469 fans, marking the 14th consecutive season the league has surpassed two millions fans.
Gwinnett is leading the league in average attendance with 6,292 per game, up 25 percent from the 5,034 the team averaged in its inaugural season. The Gladiators had their first sellout crowd of 11,355 on November 5 and had 10,258 on November 19 and 8,586 for opening night on October 29 and 8,246 on December 10.
Florida leads the league in total attendance with 144,367 and is second in average attendance at 6,016 per game while Reading is third at 5,514. San Diego had 11,922 for its season opener and ranks fourth at 5,149, up 122 fans per game, while Bakersfield, which had 8,204 on November 27, rounds out the top five at 5,004, up 491 per game.
