TRENTON, NJ (February 1, 2005) â The Trenton Titans could not solve Peoria goaltender Alfie Michaud as they fell to the Rivermen 2-1 in the shootout in front of 3,129 at Sovereign Bank Arena.
Peoria took the 1-0 lead at 11:38 of the first period when Travis Rycroft put his own rebound past Titan goalie Chris Houle.
After a scoreless second period, Leon Hayward knotted the score 1-1 when he flipped the rebound of a Stephen Wood shot up and over Michaud's glove at 9:17 of the third.
The two teams would skate through the overtime and into the shootout. Colin Hemingway and Tyler Rennette converted for the Rivermen, while Michaud turned away all four Titans shooters to clinch the victory. Peoria has yet to loste in regulation when leading after any period.
Houle made 27 saves on 28 shots as his record goes to 9-5-4. Trenton was scoreless in four power play opportunities, but a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
