Gladiators Overcome Pride in 4-3 come from behind victory

Chris Durno scored the game wining goal as he tapped a rebound past Pride netminder Nick Boucher with 1:40 remaining in the third period to help the the Gladiators to a 4-3 victory over the Pee Dee Pride on Tuesday night at The Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Kris Goodjohn and Alex Sawruk added the assists on the game winning tally for Gwinnett that capped 3-goal come from behind win. Pee Dee opened up a 3-0 lead on the Gladiators before Gwinnett was able to get on the board.

Eric Naud picked up the first goal of the game beating Gladiators netminder Adam Berkhoel with a snap-shot to the short side 8:26 into the first period. Naud took the shot on a two-on-one to record the unassisted goal.

Pee Dee took a 2-0 lead on a power play goal with 6:18 left in the first period. Gregg Johnson buried a pass from Brian Colins behind Berkhoel for the tally. Allan Sirois also picked up an assist on the goal.

Chadd Spurr was credited with Pee Dee's third goal at 8:49 of the second period. Spurr was the last Pride player to touch the puck before an errant clearing attempt by the Gladiators was knocked into the Gwinnett net.

Kris Goodjohn got the Gladiators on the board with his 12th goal of the season muscling his way to the front of the net and pushing the puck past Boucher on a breakaway. Joe Bourne added an assist on the shorthanded goal at 11:31 of the second period.

Jim Jackson's slapshot from the blue line on the power play eluded Boucher at 10:49 of the third period to cut the Pee Dee lead to a goal. Brad Schell picked up an assist on the goal setting up Jackson. Mike Vigilante also picked up an assist on the goal.

Another Gwinnett power play goal tied the game at three. Joe Bourne chipped home his second goal in as many games putting the puck off the cross bar and past Boucher. Chris Durno and Rick Emmett added the assists on the goal at 12:12 of the third period.

Adam Berkhoel remains unbeaten with the Gladiators picking up his second win of the sesaon and improving to 2-0-4 while Gwinnett improves to 21-13-5 on the year. Gwinnett went 2-for-8 on the power play scoring both power play goals during the third period.
