Everblades' Berg named Player of the Week

Estero, FL - The ECHL has announced that Florida Everblades forward Reggie Berg has been named the In Glas Co. ECHL Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 24-30. In Florida's two games, Berg notched seven points to help extend the Everblades winning streak to three games.
The 28-year-old began the week with two assists in Florida's 5-3 win over Louisiana on Friday night and capped the week with a team-high five points (1g, 4a) in one game in Saturday's 6-5 win over the IceGators. Berg's goal on Saturday night, which proved to be the game-winner, was one of Florida's franchise record five power play goals scored that night.
The Anoka, Minnesota native extended his points scoring streak to four games (2g, 9a) with his performance this weekend and brought his overall point total to 23 in his 11 games played. Berg, who missed 30 games earlier this season with a knee injury, has picked up at least one point in 10 of his 11 games played, and has collected eight multiple-point games.
The former 7th round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1996 is in his fifth professional season, and recently collected his 100th career goal. Overall, Berg has collected 221 points in (102g, 119a) in 229 career games. As a member of the Florida Everblades, he has notched 196 points (92g, 104a) in 165 games. Prior to turning pro, Berg skated five seasons with the University of Minnesota, where he amassed 158 points in 160 games.
The Player of the Week honor for Berg marks the fourth time an Everblades player has received the award this season. Berg joins Damian Surma, who has twice been named the Player of the Week, and Brent McDonald as winners of the award.
The Florida Everblades host the Augusta Lynx at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Tickets are still available for tonight's game.
