Chicago, IL - The Texas Stars (3-5-0-0, 6 points) were defeated by the Chicago Wolves (3-4-0-2, 8 points) 2-1 at Allstate Arena on Saturday night. Wolves center Darren Haydar scored both Chicago goals, including the game-winning goal with 4:39 remaining in regulation to lead Chicago past Texas. Stars forward Tomas Vincour scored the team's lone goal, as Texas fell to 1-3-0-0 on the road. Chicago goalie Eddie Lack (3-2-2) made 33 saves, missing a shutout by 3:51. Texas goalie Tyler Beskorowany (1-2-0) stopped 20 shots in the defeat. The Stars will play at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.
After a scoreless first period of play, the Wolves opened the scoring late in the second period. Chicago winger Bill Sweatt led an odd-man rush into the Texas zone and found Darren Haydar in front of the Texas net at 19:13. Haydar redirected the puck past Stars goalie Tyler Beskorowany, scoring his third goal of the year and giving the Wolves a 1-0 lead through two periods of play.
In the third period, Haydar notched his second goal of the night at 15:21, extending the Wolves' lead to 2-0. Mark Matheson and Tim Miller each had an assist on Haydar's fourth goal of the year. Texas pulled within a goal at 2-1, as Tomas Vincour beat goalie Eddie Lack with 3:51 left in regulation. Vincour's fourth tally of the season was assisted by Ryan Garbutt and Francis Wathier at 16:04.
Texas concludes a four-game road trip in Milwaukee on Sunday, October 30th at 3:00 P.M. Texas returns home on Thursday, November 3rd for a 7:30 P.M. faceoff against the Toronto Marlies. Thursday is a 3-2-1 night, featuring $3 domestic drafts, $2 sodas, and $1 hot dogs.
