Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators won their second straight game as they defeated the Albany Devils 4-2 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena Friday night. Mike Hoffman scored the game winning goal and added an assist. Robin Lehner made his fifth straight start in goal for the B-Sens, stopping 42 of 44 shots faced.

The Devils grabbed a 1-0 lead at 3:42 of the first period as Matthew Corrente's odd angle shot from the top of the left circle trickled past Lehner on a power play.

Nikita Filatov answered with a power play tally of his own at 6:03 of the opening period. Patrick Wiercioch blasted a shot in on the Albany goal from the blue line, but Jeff Frazee couldn't control the rebound. Filatov was there to wire it in from the slot, tying the game at one. Hoffman earned the secondary assist on the goal.

Corey Cowick broke the tie at 10:58 of the second period as his first goal of the season snuck in five-hole on Frazee. Corey Locke earned credit for the lone assist on the goal. It would be Locke's seventh point (0+77) on the season, moving him into a tie for the team lead in points with B-Sens' captain Mark Parrish (5+27).

Stephane Veilleux tied the score up once more, netting his first of the season against Lehner with 2:12 remaining in the middle stanza. Joe Whitney received credit for an assist, his second of the evening, after notching a helper on Corrente's first period goal.

Following a flurry of activity in front of the Devils' cage, Hoffman ripped in a rebound on Frazee at 14:42 of the third to give Binghamton a 3-2 edge. Pat Cannone added insurance as he found an empty net with exactly 40 seconds remaining in regulation.

The B-Sens are in action again Saturday night as they host the Rochester Americans at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $18.50 for side seating, $17.50 for end seating. Fans can purchase tickets at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or in person at the Binghamton Senators' executive office or the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena box office.
