
Chasers' Pitching Shines in Series-Finale Win over Saints

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Storm Chasers earned a series finale win behind a strong performance their pitching staff. Omaha allowed just four hits with one walk while striking out 10 batters, keeping St. Paul off the scoreboard in the final seven innings.
Omaha (61-67) took game six over St. Paul 4-2, earning a series split from CHS Field. The Storm Chasers lead the season series 13-11 with just three games remaining between the two teams.
St. Paul (62-65) hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning off the bats of John Andreoli and Braden Bishop to open a 2-0 lead.
Left-hander Josh Dye got the spot start for the second time during this series before right-hander Yefri Del Rosario made his second appearance as a Storm Chaser, pitching the third and fourth without giving up a run.
Shortstop Maikel Garcia reached on an infield single in the fourth before stealing his sixth base with Triple-A Omaha. Designated hitter Vinnie Pasquantino reached on a St. Paul fielding error that allowed Garcia to come in and score and cut the deficit to one run.
Second baseman Gabriel Cancel hit his second home run of the series in the fifth inning, knotting the score at 2-2.
Right-hander Zach Willeman pitched the fifth and sixth for Omaha, retiring all six batters that he faced with three strikeouts.
In the seventh, right-hander Ryan Weiss tossed a scoreless inning, needing just eight pitches to get through the frame and earn his first win of the season.
The Storm Chasers used a groundout from Pasquantino in the eighth to take the lead, scoring second baseman Iván Castillo from third base.
Right-hander Andrés Sotillet tossed a scoreless eighth, allowing just one hit in the inning.
Cancel earned his second RBI of the game in the ninth with a single off the right field wall to score first baseman Logan Porter and give the Omaha another run of insurance.
In his fourth appearance of the week, right-hander Ándres Núñez earned his second save of the season, retiring all three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth to secure the 4-2 win.
The Storm Chasers have Monday off before coming home to Werner Park for a seven-game series against the Indianapolis Indians. The series opener against the Indians is slated for 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday.
The series against Indianapolis features Stem Educators night on Friday, September 9, presented by Meta & Olsson. Omaha will also host First Responders Day, presented by Werner Enterprises, on Sunday, September 11.
