Cats Stay Hot in 10-5 Win over T-Pads

TUCSON, Ariz. - Five different River Cats had multiple hits-led by Grant Green who went 4-for-5-as Sacramento beat the T-Pads by a score of 10-5 on Saturday night at Kino Stadium.

The Cats brought nine men to the plate in the top of the first that saw a two-run single from Shane Peterson, an RBI-base hit from Michael Choice and a run-scoring single from Green, giving the Cats a 4-0 lead after one. Two innings later, Luke Montz hit a mammoth home run to left field, giving the catcher three home runs and 13 RBIs in his last four games played. The Cats put three on the board in the fourth, and two in the fifth, to take a 10-0 lead into the sixth.

Tucson scored in the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings, including three home runs. Starter Bruce Billings gave up one in the sixth, and relievers Brian Gordon and Chris Resop combined to allow four earned in three innings of work, but it wasn't enough as the River Cats held on to win, 10-5.

Green's 4-for-5 night came with three runs scored, two RBIs, a walk and a double, giving him nine hits in his last three games. Peterson drove in four of his team's 10 runs, finishing 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs. Jemlie Weeks went 3-for-5 with two runs and two triples, while Choice finished 3-for-6 with two runs, an RBI and a double.

Billings notched his seventh quality start and his league-leading eighth win, holding the T-Pads to one earned on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings of work. The quality start is his seventh of the year and the win is his sixth in a row.

The River Cats have 44 hits and 33 runs scored in the first three games of the series. They've out-scored the T-Pads 33-13 and have out-hit them 44-26. The win is the fourth in a row for the River Cats and their sixth of the year against Tucson.

The River Cats try for the series-sweep at 7:05 p.m. on Sunday evening at Kino Stadium when lefty Justin Thomas (3-3, 3.94 ERA) takes on Tucson right-hander Sean O'Sullivan (4-3, 3.82 ERA).
