RedHawks Shutout by Storm Chasers

Papillion, Neb - The Omaha Storm Chasers broke out of their recent slump with a six-run sixth inning, and four Omaha pitchers combined to shutout the Oklahoma City RedHawks 7-0 before 4,349 at Werner Park Sunday afternoon.

The game eventually got underway 1 hour, 29 minutes after it was originally scheduled due to rain. Once it started, the Storm Chasers did not take long to score. Chad Tracy notched an RBI groundout in the bottom of the first inning to give Omaha an early 1-0 lead.

RedHawks starting pitcher Jarred Cosart would settle in after allowing that run, retiring the next 13 hitters he faced.

The RedHawks (33-27) offense was kept at bay as well and the game remained 1-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth. Cosart walked each of the first three batters of the inning and then left the game.

Tracy was the first to face RedHawks reliever Josh Zeid, and Tracy lifted a sac fly to center field. Brett Wallace would commit a throwing error on the play after cutting off Che-Hsuan Lin's throw from the outfield, allowing another run to score.

Anthony Seratelli stepped up next and hit an RBI single to make it 4-0. The big blow came off the bat of Adam Moore, who hit a three-run homer with two outs to complete a six-run rally.

Omaha (27-33) had scored six runs in their previous six games combined before busting out in the sixth. Their seven runs for the game also equaled what they had scored in their first four games total against the RedHawks this season.

Four Storm Chasers pitchers combined to toss a five-hit shutout, their second of the year. It also marked the third time the RedHawks have been blanked, but the first time since a 1-0 loss in Nashville on April 8.

The RedHawks tallied just five hits, all singles. It was the second time in three games they did not have an extra-base hit. Oklahoma City had four runners get into scoring position and only one runner reach third base.

Omaha reliever Louis Coleman (3-1) picked up the win. He allowed two hits over 2.1 scoreless frames in the middle of the game.

Cosart (5-3) lost for the third time in five starts. He was charged with four runs (three earned) over five-plus innings. Although he allowed just two hits-both in the first inning-he issued four walks.

With Sunday's loss, the RedHawks finished their recent road swing 3-4.
