Today's Game: The RedHawks will finish their current series in Omaha at 2:05 p.m. After last night's game was suspended, three of the first seven scheduled games between the RedHawks and Storm Chasers have been affected by inclement weather.
Last Game: Last night's game was suspended with Omaha leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning. The game will be resumed during the RedHawks next trip to Werner Park, July 22-25.
On Friday night Oklahoma City took control with a three-run sixth inning and held on for a 5-2 win at Werner Park. The RedHawks broke a scoreless tie in the third inning on a Jonathan Villar RBI single. Omaha tied the game on an error in the bottom of the inning. The game stayed 1-1 until the RedHawks scored three runs in the sixth via a Brandon Laird RBI double and bases-loaded walks drawn by Carlos Perez and Andy Simunic. Rhiner Cruz retired all four batters he faced to close out the game. OKC starting pitcher Brett Oberholtzer (4-4) allowed one run and three hits over six innings. He struck out seven and walked three in the win.
Today's Probable Pitcher: Jarred Cosart will look to add to a strong 2013 season...Cosart enters today's contest seventh in the PCL in ERA (3.07), fourth in opponent batting average (.208) and fourth in strikeouts per nine innings (9.67). However he's also tied for third in walks (36)...Cosart labored over 4.1 innings in his last start in Albuquerque on Monday. He threw 99 pitches, but only 49 for strikes...Over his last two starts he's walked 12 hitters over 10.0 IP and thrown exactly 200 pitches (101 strikes)...Opponents have had a hard time ignited rallies, as he has limited them to a .168 average with runners on base...Cosart defeated the Storm Chasers on May 28 in OKC. Even though he held Omaha to two runs and three hits over five-plus innings, he walked a career-high seven batters...Today will be the first time he's pitched in a day game this season.
Against the Storm Chasers: 2013: 3-1 2012: 6-10 All-time: 113-99 In OMA: 56-50
The RedHawks won both games of a weather-shortened two-game series by a combined score of 13-3 and clinched a winning home series against Omaha for the first time since June 26-29, 2010...During the 2012 season series, Omaha averaged 6.9 runs per game, but so far in 2013 they have scored a total of seven runs and are batting .160...The RedHawks lead the all-time series with the Storm Chasers, 113-99, but Omaha entered 2013 having won four of the last five season series against Oklahoma City and three of four series in 2012...During their previous trip to Omaha (July 16-19, 2012), the RedHawks became just the second team ever to sweep the Storm Chasers at Werner Park. They scored 42 runs, with at least seven runs in each game, and slammed 11 home runs...Their next series is June 22-25 in OKC and will have a total of six games, including doubleheaders on the 23rd and 25th.
Backing Into First: Even though they did not play last night, the RedHawks moved into a first place tie atop the American Southern Division, as Round Rock was swept in a doubleheader in Iowa.
Woeful Weather: Including last night's suspended game, the RedHawks have had 10 games impacted by inclement weather this season. There have also been seven games postponed, one game completed early and another with a delayed start. They are tied with the Storm Chasers for the least games played in the PCL with 59.
Valiant Villar: Jonathan Villar is 8-for-19 during the current road trip, and Friday night he collected his team-leading 21st multi-hit game of the season. He was hitting just .180 on the road before this trip began. After swiping a pair of bases in his last game, Villar now leads the league with 19 steals.
The Laird Up There: Brandon Laird is on a season-best six-game hit streak. He has also recorded at least one RBI in seven of his last eight games (nine RBI total). Friday night was the first time since May 21 in Fresno he reached base safely three times in one game.
A Little Extra: The RedHawks recorded three doubles Friday night, surpassing their extra-base hit total from the previous three games combined (two). They have not hit a triple or home run in four consecutive games. Although the team is sixth in the PCL in batting average (.275), they rank 14th in extra-base hits (159).
Walk This Way: The RedHawks walked five times Friday night and have drawn at least five walks in 11 of their last 16 games. They've recorded a total of 84 walks during the 16-game stretch and are third in the league with 248 walks this season. Marc Krauss leads the team with 39 walks, which is tied for second in the PCL. Krauss (39 BB/38 K) and Che-Hsuan Lin (32 BB/27 K) have each walked more than they've struck out.

Win or lose, opponents are hitting just .163 with runners in scoring position over the last nine games (14x86).
Cruz-ing to Victory: On Friday Rhiner Cruz recorded his first save since joining the Astros organization. Cruz's last save was on Aug. 31, 2011 with the Double-A Binghamton Mets in a 6-5 win in Erie.
Stoffel the Stopper: Jason Stoffel has not been scored upon in nine of his last 10 outings. During that time he has posted a 0.69 ERA (ER/13.0 IP) and allowed a mere three hits for a .065 batting average (46 AB).
