Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-Reno had the bases loaded with just one out on Saturday night, but the club stranded all three base runners en route to a 2-1 loss to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Aces Ballpark.
Mike Jacobs homered to lead off the ninth, and a hit by pitch and throwing error allowed the next two Aces batters to reach base. After Evan Frey reached on a walk to load the bases, Taylor Harbin struck out and Tuffy Gosewisch flew out to end the threat.
A two-run home run off the bat of Josh Rutledge in the sixth gave Colorado Springs the edge they would need. Reno starter Randall Delgado and Sky Sox starter Cory Riordan battled until that point, with both allowing just six hits. Delgado was tagged with his fifth loss of the season, while Riordan earned his fourth win.
Relievers Eury De La Rosa and Warner Madrigal combined to throw 3.0 perfect innings to end the game.
Logan Kensing struggled to close the game for the Sky Sox, allowing the Jacobs homer and loading the bases, but was awarded his sixth save of the season.
The series wraps up Sunday afternoon at Aces Ballpark, as Reno looks to force a series split. RHP Zeke Spruill (1-3, 5.75 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the Sky Sox will counter with RHP Drew Carpenter (0-2, 6.48 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. for another Renown Children's Hospital Family Funday, featuring baseball bingo.
Tickets are on sale for Sunday's game, and all Aces home games, at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
