Capitols Host Steel Friday

Middleton, WI - The Madison Capitols look to get back on track as they take on the Chicago Steel for the second straight contest at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton. Puck drop is set for Friday at 7:05 p.m.


- The second $1 beer night of the season takes place with all your favorite beers


- Madison is 3-7-0-2 during the 2018-19 campaign, including a 3-3-0-1 record against the Eastern Conference

- The Capitols fell in their most recent game last Saturday, 3-1 to Chicago

- First year Capitol, Chaz Smedsrud, leads the team with 7 points (3-4-7)

- Smedsrud is also tied with Josh Boyer and Carson Bantle for the team lead with 3 goals a piece

- Madison is last in the league in scoring, averaging 1.83 goals per game

- The strength of the team so far lies with the goaltending where Madison feature's the league's 5th best unit, averaging 3.08 goals allowed per game

- Joseph Lamoreaux boasts a .928 save percentage, good for 2nd in the league, and the 3rd best goals against average with 2.40 goals per game


- This will be the final time these two teams will matchup at Cap Ice this season

- Since the Capitols joined the USHL back in 2014, the Steel hold a 16-7-1 advantage

- The Steel squeaked out a series victory last season 3-2 thanks to a 2-1 record in Chicago

- Chicago has outscored the Capitols 9-3 in the first two games of the series this season

- The Capitols have an all-time record of 5-6-2 against the Steel at Cap Ice

- This will be the second time in six days these two teams face off


- Chicago is 5-7-1 this season, good for 7th in the Eastern Conference

- The Steel are coming off a win last Saturday over the Capitols that broke a three-game losing streak

- Robert Mastrisimone leads the Steel with 13 points and 8 goals in only 11 games this season

- Chicago added for Ville Räsänen to their roster earlier this week after being cut from the Lincoln Stars. Räsänen was a 7th round draft pick (197thoverall) by the Carolina Hurricane in 2017
