West Valley City, Utah - Joe Cannata gets his third consecutive shutout and Caleb Herbert scored 2 goals in the Utah Grizzlies 5-0 win over the Allen Americans at Maverik Center.
Cole Ully added 4 assists on the night, which is a season high among Utah skaters. Ully has 6 assists in his last 2 games. Matt Berry had 1 goal and 2 assists on the night for a Grizzlies team that has won 7 of their last 8 games. Berry has 8 goals in his last 6 games.
Utah took a 1-0 lead on Caleb Herbert's 15th goal of the season. Cannata stopped all 13 shots in the first period.
Utah scored 3 power play goals in the second period to break the game wide open. Matt Berry, Austin Carroll and Taylor Richart each had a power play assist for the number 1 power play unit in the league. Utah finished 3 for 7 on the power play. It was also another successful night for the Grizzlies on the penalty kill, going 4 for 4.
Utah is currently 4-1 on the homestand and have outscored the opposition 13-0 in his last 3 games. The final game of the weekend series is Saturday night at 7:00 pm. Utah is looking for a 3 game series sweep.
Grizzlies Notes: Josh Dickinson got an assist in his Grizzlies debut. Utah outshot Allen 39 to 35. Austin Carroll had a 10 game point streak come to an end on Wednesday night. Carroll scored a goal to get a point in 11 of his last 12 games. Cole Ully, Matt Berry and Caleb Herbert were each a plus-2 on the game.
