Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
Grand Rapids Griffins (8-5-0-3) vs. Houston Aeros (8-6-1-2) TONIGHT 7 p.m. Van Andel Arena
Grand Rapids Griffins vs. Lake Erie Monsters (7-7-1-2) Saturday 7 p.m. Van Andel Arena
Tonight, the Griffins begin a stretch in which they'll play 16 of their next 22 games within the comfy confines of Van Andel Arena, where they've earned points in five of seven games (2-2-0-3) so far this season.
The full slate of Friday night promotions returns tonight, including Dollar Beers, Dollar Dogs from 6-8 p.m. while supplies last, College Night, and the D-Zone. Prior to the game, the first-ever Pennzoil RCR street performance Camaro will be parked on the arena plaza. During the first intermission, the car will be awarded to John Nidefski of Grand Rapids, who won it through Pennzoil's "Get Your Key to Clean" promotion on Oct. 16 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. In addition, fans can visit the Griffins' Ticket Central booth at the top of the arena's main staircase to enter to win a Pennzoil race jacket or a Kevin Harvick autographed diecast collectable car. Winners will be drawn at the conclusion of the second intermission and announced during the third period.
For Saturday's game versus Lake Erie, the first 2,500 fans will receive a Griffins fleece blanket, courtesy of Comerica. Fans can stick around for the Huntington Bank post-game autograph session with Griffins players, and they can bring their skates for the post-game open skate.
"Amway Section A," the $1.2 million expansion of Van Andel Arena's northwest concourse, will be dedicated and opened to the public prior to Saturday's game. The 3,500-square-foot addition will feature a full bar, concession-style food service and three 42" flat screen TVs. A brief ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, 15 minutes after doors open, and the first 500 fans to visit Amway Section A will receive a free t-shirt.
TICKETS: Tickets for both games are available at The Zone at Van Andel Arena and all Star Tickets outlets, including Meijer stores. Call 222-4000 / 800-585-3737 or purchase online at griffinshockey.com .
