Aeros cage Griffins

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. --- The Houston Aeros had a total team effort against the Grand Rapids Griffins as Maxim Noreau and Jon DiSalvatore totaled three points each and Anton Khudobin recorded 28 saves to lead the Houston Aeros to a 5-0 shutout win in Grand Rapids on Friday Night.

Houston scored first for the 10th time out of the last 11 games when Jon DiSalvatore scored 6:40 into the 1st period and the Aeros never looked back. The Aeros got a pair of power play goals from Maxim Noreau in the 2nd and 3rd periods, along with goals by Jarod Palmer in the 2nd and Kris Fredheim in the 3rd period to win their third consecutive game.

The Aeros recorded their first shutout since February 13, 2010 in a 1-0 overtime win at home against Grand Rapids, a span of 42 games.

Houston's defense continued to be their story as the Aeros were six for six on penalty killing against the Griffins, a unit that is ranked second in the AHL at 90.5% going into tonight's game. Anton Khudobin recorded his sixth career AHL shutout while getting his seventh start in the last 10 games and is now 5-1-1 and has stopped 194 of 206 (.942) during that stretch.

The Aeros (9-6-1-2) travel tomorrow night to face the Chicago Wolves (7:00 p.m. CST) and return home Sunday to face the Texas Stars at 4:05 p.m. at Toyota Center.
