Falcons Fall To Pack 5-2

The Springfield Falcons lost to the Hartford Wolf Pack 5-2 in front of 6,226 at the MassMutual Center on Friday night. The Falcons next head to Syracuse on Saturday to take on the Crunch starting at 7:30 pm.
The Wolf Pack jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 3:09 into the first period when Chad Kolarik scored his sixth goal of the year, but the Falcons tied the score just 33 seconds later when Tomas Kubalik tallied his fifth marker of the year at 3:42 of the opening frame.
Kolarik added his second goal of the game, this time on the power play, when he wristed a shot past David LeNeveu at 15:42 of the opening frame. Mats Zuccarello converted just 29 seconds later giving Hartford a 3-1 advantage through 20 minutes.
It was a rough first period as Dane Byers and Jared Nightingale dropped the gloves, followed by Mike Blunden and Dale Weise going toe to toe late in the opening frame.
In the second period, Wade Redden expanded the Pack's lead to 4-1 just two minutes into the middle session, followed by Justin Soryal scoring his second goal of the year at 16:22 of the second frame.
Maksim Mayorov added a third period goal for the Falcons, but the night would end with a 5-2 Hartford win.
