Rochester, NY - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Rochester Americans 5-3 on Friday night. The Bulldogs scored four goals in the second period to take a lead they did not relinquish. David Desharnais scored a goal and added two assists in the win.

The Americans opened the game's scoring at 5:31 of the first frame. Keaton Ellerby sent a pass to Bill Thomas, who snapped a shot from the right faceoff circle. The shot squeaked past Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford.

The Bulldogs tied the game 1-1 at 19:08 while on the power play. Following a scrum in front of the net, multiple Hamilton players attempted to shove the puck into the net until Alexander Avtsin was able to backhand a shot past Rochester starting goaltender Jacob Markstrom.

The ‘Dogs took a 2-1 lead at 5:00 of the middle stanza with a power-play goal. Desharnais received the puck from Ben Maxwell before sending a pass back to the point, where Mathieu Carle was positioned. Carle rifled a shot that sailed through traffic and past Markstrom. The assist was Desharnais' 100th as a Hamilton Bulldog. Desharnais gave Hamilton a 3-1 lead at 11:51. Desharnais took a shot that was saved by Markstrom. Max Pacioretty grabbed the rebound before returning the puck to Desharnais, who fired a shot past Markstrom. Olivier Fortier earned his first-career regular season AHL goal at 12:22. Fortier received the puck from Brendon Nash before snapping a shot that bounced off the post and into the back of the net. The ‘Dogs took a 5-1 lead at 17:58. Avtsin fed a pass to Ben Maxwell, who blasted a shot past Markstrom and into the net. The goal was the ‘Dogs third power-play goal of the game.

The Americans made the game 5-2 at 11:18 of the final frame. Paul Baier collected the puck at the right faceoff circle before snapping a shot past Sanford and into the net. Rochester scored their third goal of the game at 17:46. Scott Timmins stripped the puck off a Bulldogs defender in the corner before sending a pass to Kenndal McArdle. McArdle took a shot that beat Sanford.

The Bulldogs will travel to Toronto for two games against the Marlies on Saturday, November 20th at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 21st at 1:00 p.m. Sunday's game can be seen live on CBC.
