Durham Bulls News Release

DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls (27-24) defeated the Nashville Sounds (33-18) 9-7 in game three of the six-game set. In the win, Durham set a new season-high for home runs in a game for the second consecutive game.

To start the game, Nashville wasted no time getting on the board as 2B Mark Mathias connected on a two-run shot in the first. After hitting five homers in last night, the Bulls would find their rhythm early in the second, as LF Jordan Qsar went yard for the second consecutive night to tie the game with a two-run blast.

Durham would take the lead in the third as 2B Xavier Edwards went yard on a three-run shot for his first career Triple-A homer. Later that inning, Qsar would go yard again on a solo shot for his second homer of the contest and third blast in as many at-bats dating back to last night. 1B Jim Haley would give Durham their fourth homer of the night on another solo shot for the 7-2 lead, rounding out a five-run third inning.

Nashville would respond in the fifth as DH Garrett Whitley took his turn rounding the bases on a solo shot to trim the Durham lead to four. Sounds RF Pablo Reyes would then score on a bases-loaded walk to make it 7-4.

The Bulls would once again get hot in the sixth, as 3B Jonathan Aranda connected on a solo shot. For the second time in the contest, the Bulls hit back-to-back homers as RF Josh Lowe went yard on a solo shot after Aranda to give the Bulls a new season-high with six home runs, and a 9-4 lead.

Nashville would cut the lead to two, however Bulls reliever Cristofer Ogando held the Sounds without a hit in the ninth, securing the Bulls win and getting the save.

Durham pitcher Easton McGee earned the win after throwing five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and ringing up three strikeouts. Nashville pitcher Josh Lindblom picked up the loss.

The Bulls and Sounds will continue their series on Friday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. RHP Tommy Romero (2-3, 5.12) is expected to start for Durham and RHP Caleb Boushley (5-2, 3.66) is expected to get the starting nod for Nashville in game four. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
