
Bradley, Hernandez Lead 13-4 PawSox Eruption in Durham

(Durham, NC) Jackie Bradley, Jr. hit two homers and Marco Hernandez collected four hits, including his first Triple-A homer, to lead the Pawtucket Red Sox to a 13-4 win over the Durham Bulls on Friday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The PawSox snapped an 11-game road losing streak on and evened the series at a game apiece.
Joe Kelly (1-1) tossed five strong innings on four hits, two runs and seven strikeouts to earn his first win of the season.
Pawtucket (40-53) scored seven runs in the first 3 innings off losing pitcher Bradin Hagens (1-1). Bradley Jr. (3-for-5, 2 HR, 4 RBI) hit a two-run homer in the first inning on an 0-2 pitch. In the second, Luis Martinez added a two-run single. Hernandez (4-for-5) crushed a three-run homer into the right-field seats.
J.P. Arencibia hit his first of two homers in the fourth inning off Kelly, cutting the PawSox lead to 7-2. Arencibia homered to lead off the sixth and former PawSox outfielder Corey Brown had an RBI single later in the frame.
In the sixth, the PawSox offense continued to roll, putting up a four-spot against Enny Romero. Quintin Berry smoked a two-run triple and Bradley Jr. cleared the Blue Monster in left field with his second homer of the game. Berry added the 12th run with a run-scoring single in the seventh. Rusney Castillo capped off the scoring with an RBI fielder's choice in the ninth.
Pawtucket's bullpen worked four innings on five hits and three runs. Jess Todd went no part of an inning, giving up two runs on four hits. Dayan Diaz had a terrific outing, firing three scoreless on two hits and four strikeouts. Pat Light worked a perfect ninth.
The clubs play game three of the series Saturday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park at 6:35. Lefty Henry Owens (2-7, 3.36) makes his 19th start of the season for Pawtucket. Right-hander Matt Andriese (1-0, 2.32) takes the mound for Durham. Pregame coverage begins on WHJJ and online at 6:20.
