Biddle's Gem Helps Pigs Edge Wings, 1-0

In his second career Triple-A start, LHP Jesse Biddle tossed seven shutout innings as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (41-52) edged the Rochester Red Wings (50-43) by a score of 1-0 on Friday night at Frontier Field.

Biddle (1-0) gave up three hits while walking one and fanning seven over his seven innings of work.

RHP Juan Gutierrez (1.0 IP, H) and LHP Adam Loewen (1.0 IP, K) got the final six outs to preserve Biddle's first Triple-A win. Loewen retired the side in order in the ninth to pick up his sixth save of the season.

The Pigs struck with the only run of the night in the fourth as Aaron Altherr (2-4, R) reached with a one-out single, moved to second on a walk issued to Cord Phelps and scored on Jordan Danks' RBI single to give Lehigh Valley a 1-0 lead.

Red Wings starter Pat Dean (6-8) was tagged with the tough luck loss as he allowed the one run on seven hits to go along with a walk and seven strikeouts in eight innings of work.

Blake Forsythe (2-3) also had a multi-hit game for the IronPigs who outhit the Wings, 7-4.

The series continues on Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. as RHP Sean O'Sullivan (1-6, 6.08 w/ PHI) gets the ball for manager Dave Brundage's squad against Rochester RHP Jose Berrios (0-0, 7.59).
