Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
Louisville, Ky. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) scored the game's last four runs including three in the ninth to best the Louisville Bats (Cincinnati Reds) on Friday night, 4-1. The RailRiders have won three in a row for the first time since a six-game run from June 8-13.
SWB struggled against Major League rehabber Tony Cingrani. The southpaw tossed five scoreless innings, but loaded the bases in the fifth before striking out Jose Rosario looking after an 11-pitch plate appearance.
Louisville scored just once against starter Esmil Rogers who tossed a season-best seven innings. The run came in the sixth when Irving Falu's leadoff triple was followed by a just-fair single from Jermaine Curtis.
The RailRiders used a similar recipe to tie the game in the eighth when Rosario tripled to start the inning against reliever Drew Hayes. Aaron Judge followed with an RBI double for a 1-1 deadlock.
In the ninth, run-scoring contact by Jose Pirela, Judge and Juan Graterol gave the RailRiders the 4-1 lead that would go final. It did so thanks to a scoreless inning by Chris Martin for his first save. Fellow reliever James Pazos (2-1) tossed a scoreless and hitless eighth for the victory.
The four-game series continues at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday with usual reliever, right-hander Danny Burawa (1-2, 2.12), facing southpaw David Holmberg (5-6, 4.63). The RailRiders will give away a special copy of Yankees Magazine to the first 2,500 fans in attendance on Friday, July 24, when the team hosts the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit Tigers).
