Bowie Baysox Announce Player Moves

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce a series of roster moves over the last few days. On Saturday, Aug. 7, RHP Chorye Spoone and C Caleb Joseph were both activated from the disabled list, RHP Bob McCrory was transferred to class Single-A Aberdeen and LHP Rick Zagone was transferred to class Single-A Frederick. Monday, C Adam Donachie was transferred to class Triple-A Norfolk and Tuesday OF Xavier Avery was transferred to Bowie from class Single-A Frederick. With the moves, the Baysox maintain a complete 24-man roster.

Spoone had been on the disabled list since July 28 with a right shoulder strain. In 22 starts this season, Spoone is 7-5 with a 3.70 ERA. He has won his last five decisions.

Joseph had been on the disabled list since July 24. The backstop is batting .239 in 86 games for Bowie, with 12 doubles, one triple and 10 home runs.

Avery was promoted to Bowie after batting .280 in 109 games for Frederick with 25 doubles, four home runs, 37 RBIs and seven stolen bases in eight attempts.

McCrory appeared in 14 games for the Baysox this year, going 2-2 in 19.2 innings with a 5.95 ERA. The right-hander has walked 13 batters while striking out 15.

Zagone made eight starts for Bowie, going 3-3 with a 3.74 ERA. The left-hander has walked 13 batters in 53.0 innings while striking out 29. In 15 starts for the Frederick Keys this year, Zagone was 5-6 with a 3.20 ERA.

Donachie appeared in five games for Bowie this season, batting .150 (3-20) with one double and two RBIs. In 59 games with the Norfolk Tides this season, Donachie hit .198 (37-187) with seven doubles, three home runs and 19 RBIs.
