Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Lefty Mark Cohoon baffled Harrisburg over seven, strong innings, leading the B-Mets to a 7-1 triumph over the Senators Tuesday night at Metro Bank Park. Sean Ratliff went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, three runs scored and two RBI to lead the offense.

Binghamton (56-60) climbed on top in the first against starter Brad Peacock. Raul Reyes singled to get things going with one out. Zach Lutz followed with a double into the right-field corner. However, with Sean Ratliff at the plate, Harrisburg catcher Jhonatan Solano picked off Reyes at third for the second out. Ratliff cashed in Lutz's run, though, with an RBI double to right. Peacock proceeded to walk the next hitter, Mike Nickeas, leading to Josh Satin, who smoked a fastball out of the yard to center, making it 4-0 B-Mets.

Ratliff extended the B-Mets lead to five in the third with his 13th home run of the season, a solo blast to center off Peacock.

Harrisburg (61-55) managed its only run in the bottom of the third. Cohoon, who had retired the first six to face him, gave up an opposite-field homer to right versus Edgardo Baez leading off the frame. It proved to be the Senators only run-scoring on the night.

The B-Mets got that run back almost instantaneously. Brahiam Maldonado doubled to start the fourth. After Cohoon sacrificed the runner up to third, Jose Coronado lifted a sacrifice fly to left, plating Maldonado to advance the lead back to five, 6-1.

The final run came across in the fifth on a bases-loaded fielder's choice from Jordany Valdespin, closing out Binghamton's scoring and Peacock's final line. The Senators' starter worked 4 1/3 innings and gave up seven runs on eight hits to take the loss.

Cohoon's performance was a stark contrast to that of Peacock. The southpaw retired the final nine men he faced in his longest outing with the B-Mets. He struck out five and failed to walk a hitter in limiting Harrisburg to three hits.

Nickeas, Lutz and Maldonado all managed two-hit days. Binghamton outhit the Senators 10-5.

Carlos Muniz and Eric Niesen threw the final two innings in scoreless fashion to complete the win.

Binghamton gets an early wakeup call for a 12:00 PM start in the middle game of the three-game set Wednesday. RHP Chris Schwinden (4-7, 5.68) will start opposite LHP Tom Milone (8-5, 2.97) of Harrisburg. The radio broadcast on ESPN 1360 WYOS begins at 11:45 AM with the Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show.
