WORCESTER, MA - The Buffalo Bisons raced out to a seven-run lead and held on for a 10-8 victory over the Worcester Red Sox on Friday night at Polar Park to put a game-and-a-half in between the two teams in the International League East standings.

Buffalo scored right away with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Otto Lopez led off the game with a bloop double down the right field line, and on an errant throw by Abraham Almonte, Lopez ended up at third base. He scored on the Gabriel Moreno home run that made the score 2-0 Buffalo after a half inning. Moreno's homer was hit an estimated 411 feet off of Chris Murphy.

The WooSox answered back with two runs of their own against Herd starter Thomas Hatch. The right hander worked five innings to record his eighth win of the season, and third against Worcester this year.

A sacrifice fly by Trevor Schwecke was followed by a Lopez RBI double that opened up Buffalo's lead to 4-2 in the middle of the second frame. Worcester cut the lead to 4-3 after three, but then the Herd posted a pair of three-run innings.

Spencer Horwitz's two-run double that scored Schwecke and Lopez was followed right away by a run scoring single by Moreno. Horwitz finished the night with a pair of hits, while Moreno increased his RBI total to 39 with three in the win. The three runs upped Buffalo's lead to 7-3 in the fourth.

The Herd's final runs came two innings later against reliever Geoff Hartlieb. Buffalo had four straight base hits in the top of the sixth, including a pair of run scoring hits. Zack Collins' lone hit of the night was an RBI double, and Vinny Capra promptly followed with a two-run single to balloon the lead to 10-3.

Worcester answered back with four runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh to cut the Herd lead to 10-7. The WooSox sent 10 batters to the plate in the inning, with Trent Thornton allowing three runs and the last coming off of Zach Pop. Three of the four runs were earned in the inning after Worcester was aided by a two-out error that extended the frame and produced the fourth run.

Foster Griffin recorded his first career professional save by securing the final five outs in the win. The lefty struck out the final two batters he faced for the two-run victory.

The top three batters in Buffalo's order went 7-14 with a combined three doubles, a home run, and three singles, while adding six RBI in the win.

Each team has won two games in the series, with the fifth meeting of the week scheduled for Saturday afternoon. First pitch from Polar Park is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
