
Wings Fall Short Friday Night, 5-4

The Wings fell to the Mud Hens in a close contest Friday night, 5-4 at Frontier Field.
The Red Wings gave the ball to RHP Franklyn Kilome (2-5) in tonight's start. He gave up five earned runs on nine hits, struck out three, and walked one in 4.0 innings pitched.
CF Andrew Stevenson led off the Wings with a blast to right field to give them an early 1-0 lead. His solo home run extended the Wings' extra-base hit streak to 14 games straight as well as his on-base streak to 19 games.
The Mud Hens answered in the top of the second with a game-tying solo home run and took a 2-1 lead in the third on an RBI single to right field.
With one out and men on second and third in the bottom of the third, SS Lucius Fox pushed across the tying run with a ground ball out to second base. 1B John Nogowski smoked a single down the right field line to take the lead 3-2.
The Mud Hens retook the lead in the top of the fourth with a pair of RBI extra-base hits to make the score 4-3. They took the lead on a single and a fielding error by LF Adrian Sanchez.
RHP Andres Machado relieved Kilome in the fifth. He threw 2.0 scoreless innings (runs charged to Kilome). He struck out two in his outing.
The Wings brought in LHP Matt Cronin who threw a scoreless seventh, giving up no hits and striking out one.
RF Donovan Casey brought the Wings within one with a solo shot to deep left-center field, his seventh of the season.
RHP Reed Garrett and RHP Connor Sadzeck threw a scoreless eighth and ninth inning respectively. Garrett walked two and struck out one. Sadzeck fanned two.
The Wings' offense was involved in four double plays tonight.
The Red Wings now drop to a 3-1 deficit in the series after tonight's loss. They'll look to bounce back tomorrow as they give the ball to RHP Logan Verrett (7-7) on Saturday at 6:05 pm.
