Jumbo Shrimp and Stripers Suspended Friday Night

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Friday's scheduled contest between the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and the Gwinnett Stripers has been suspended due to inclement weather with the Stripers ahead 7-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Tonight's game will resume Saturday at 5:05 p.m. and will be played through nine innings. Game two will start approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one and will be a seven-inning contest.

With two outs in the bottom of the third, Rylan Bannon walked and advanced to second as Taylor Motter reached on an error. With two runners on, Hernán Perez singled to score Bannon from second and give Gwinnett a 1-0 lead. With runners at first and second, in the following at-bat, Tyler White smacked a three-run home run to push the Stripers lead to 4-0.

The Stripers continued to pound the ball in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Delino DeShields Jr. walked and two batters later scored on a single from Ozzie Albies. In the ensuing at-bat, Alex Dickerson, entered as a pinch hitter for Bannon, smashed a two-run home run to give Gwinnett a 7-0 advantage.

As Motter was approaching the plate to begin his at-bat, the game went into a delay and was suspended in the bottom of the fourth with the bases empty and the Stripers leading 7-0. When play resumes on Saturday, Gwinnett will two outs in the bottom of the fourth.
