Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the first game of a three-game series at Coca-Cola Park (7:05 p.m.). The Bisons are coming off a 2-1 series loss to Syracuse. The Herd's final homestand starts on Thursday night with matchups against Pawtucket, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Syracuse.

vs. the IronPigs

The Bisons are 9-6 against the IronPigs this year. The teams have not met since June 23-25 when Lehigh Valley won two of three in Buffalo. The Herd won the first seven games of the matchup with the IronPigs claiming victory in six of the last eight games between the clubs.

Jeff Francis

LHP JEFF FRANCIS makes his 13th start and 18th appearance for the Bisons tonight. The veteran fell in defeat last Tuesday in Rochester with six runs allowed in four innings. Francis defeated the IronPigs on June 16 at Coca-Cola Park with six innings of one-run baseball.

MattVP

INF MATT HAGUE was optioned by Toronto on Sunday. The infielder has held his International League lead in several categories during his week with the Blue Jays. Hague still leads the IL in average (.348), hits (161), RBI (83), on-base pct. (.427) and slugging pct. (.482). Hague has hit .417 (20-48) with 14 RBI in 14 games against the IronPigs.

Rookies

The Bisons have two strong candidates for IL Rookie of the Year. RHP SCOTT COPELAND became the Bisons first 10-game winner since 2010 last night and is now 10-4 with the IL's 3rd-lowers ERA (2.43). INF ANDY BURNS is tied for 8th in the IL with a .293 average, 9th with 123 hits and tied for 9th with a .352 on-base pct.

Ben Rowen

RHP BEN ROWEN has made nine scoreless appearances for the Herd since the Blue Jays claimed the righty off waivers (Cubs) on August 3. In 11.1 innings, Rowen has allowed eight hits and walk while striking out seven. All eight hits he has allowed have been singles.

Bisons Bits

The Bisons have been involved in 29 shutouts (12-17), five more than any other team and 22% of their 129 games thus far...The Bisons have left 979 men on base this year, 25 more than any other IL squad.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (69-55) reclaimed the lead in the AL East with a three-game sweep of the Angels. Toronto won 12-5 on Sunday as Edwin Encarnacion went 4-4 with a home run and four RBI. The Blue Jays are now 16-4 so far in August. Toronto is off tonight and will face Texas on Tuesday at 8:05 p.m.
