Dean Named Player of the Week

Rochester Red Wings pitcher Pat Dean has been named the Batavia Downs Gaming and Racetrack Player of the Week for the period of Aug. 17-23, and also named the Minnesota Twins Minor League Player of the Week.

Dean tossed a complete game shutout on Wednesday afternoon, as the Wings blanked Buffalo 6-0. Dean earned his team-leading 10th win Wednesday, with nine innings pitched, six hits allowed with no walks, and six strikeouts. It was Dean's league-leading third shutout of the season, and the Wings staff also leads the league with 16 shutouts. Dean is the first Red Wings pitcher with three shutouts in a season since Wings Hall of Famer Rick Krivda in 1997. He currently has a 15 1/3 innings scoreless streak going back to his Aug. 13 win in Buffalo.

25?year?old Pat Dean is in his sixth season as a professional pitcher. He was Minnesota's 3rd round pick in 2010 out of Boston College. He spent the entire 2014 season with Double?A New Britain, posting an 8?9 record with a 4.81 ERA. Dean is a native of Waterbury, Connecticut.
