
Orioles Make Four Roster Moves

The Orioles today announced that they have recalled RHP JORGE RONDON from Triple-A Norfolk and have reinstated INF/OF STEVE PEARCE from the 15-day disabled list. In corresponding moves, the Orioles have placed INF J.J. HARDY on the 15-day disabled list with a left groin strain and designated OF NOLAN REIMOLD for assignment.
Rondon, 27, has gone 3-1 with a 2.42 ERA (14 ER/52.0 IP) in 29 relief appearances with Triple-A Norfolk this season. In 34 combined relief appearances between Triple-A Albuquerque of the Colorado Rockies organization and Norfolk, Rondon has posted a 2.30 ERA (15 ER/58.2 IP) while striking out 48 batters. He made one relief appearance with the Orioles this season on August 2 when he tossed 3.1 scoreless innings against the Detroit Tigers.
Pearce, 32, was on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain (retroactive to July 19). He combined to hit .250 (3-for-12) with a walk, hit by pitch, two doubles, one RBI, and one run scored over four games on a Major League rehab assignment with the GCL Orioles (two games) and Double-A Bowie (two games). In 58 games with the Orioles this season, Pearce hit .227 (40-for-176) with six doubles, one triple, seven home runs and 24 RBI.
Hardy, 33, has appeared in 93 games this season (91 starts at shortstop) and has committed just three errors while compiling a .992 fielding percentage this season. He has posted a .222 (74-for-333) batting average with seven home runs and 32 RBI this year.
Reimold, 31, appeared in 39 games for the Orioles this season while batting .227 (22-for-97) with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, and eight RBI.
