Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will look for their third straight win when they open a three-game set with the Buffalo Bisons on Monday night at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch of the series opener is set for 7:05 p.m. The Pigs enter play at 57-71 on the year after taking two of three at Pawtucket over the weekend. Buffalo sits at 65-64 on the year and dropped two of three at Syracuse this past weekend.
RHP David Buchanan (3-1, 3.44) gets the ball for the IronPigs on Monday. The right-hander was tagged with the loss on August 16 vs. Pawtucket after allowing three runs on six hits while walking three and fanning a pair in 5.1 IP. In seven starts with Lehigh Valley this season, lefties are hitting just .207 (12-58) against Buchanan. The Atlanta native was 2-7 with a 9.00 ERA in 10 starts with the Phillies.
LHP Jeff Francis (5-2, 2.14) will be on the bump for Buffalo in the series opener. Francis took the loss on Tuesday at Rochester when he gave up six runs on nine hits to go along with four strikeouts in four innings of work. The southpaw-who will be making his second start of the year against the Pigs-has allowed two earned runs or less in 4 of his last 5 GS. On June 16 at Coca-Cola Park, Francis earned the win vs. Lehigh Valley after surrendering one run on three hits over 6.0 IP.
The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a 2016 IronPigs Magnet Schedule presented by Sacred Heart Hospital. Monday is also Field Hockey Night.
