LHP Randy Wolf (7-1, 2.48) vs. RHP Brad Penny (5-5, 3.90)

Radio: ESPN 1520 AM Bisons Baseball Network

Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons take on the Charlotte Knights in the final game of a three-game series at BB&T Ballpark (7:05 p.m.). The Herd dropped an 8-3 contest last night to fall to 57-54 on the season. Following tonight's game, Buffalo will travel to Gwinnett to begin a three-game set against the Braves on Friday.

vs. the Knights

The Bisons are 4-2 against the Knights this season. Buffalo already clinched a season series victory on Tuesday. However, a win tonight would give Buffalo back-to-back road series wins against Charlotte for the first time in the last 10 years.

Randy Wolf

LHP RANDY WOLF makes his team-high 20th start of the season tonight. On July 31, the southpaw gave up one run on two hits and three walks while striking out four in a season-high 8.0 innings against Pawtucket. Wolf's 2.48 ERA ranks second in the IL, only trailing teammate Scott Copeland (2.11).

MattVP

INF MATT HAGUE leads the IL with 143 hits - 26 more than any other hitter. Hague also continues to set the pace for batting average (.340), RBI (77), and on-base pct. (.422), and has played in 109 of Buffalo's 111 games this season (T-1st).

Good Eyes

The Bisons struck out just four times last night against the IL's top strikeout pitching team. In the six contests between the two teams, Herd batters have struck out a total of 28 times. Buffalo's 4.67 strikeouts-per-game against Charlotte is the second-best rate for any team this season, and the lowest for any team outside the IL South.

Roster Moves

RHP BEN ROWAN was activated late yesterday before making his Bisons debut. The righty was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays on Monday. C GEORGE KOTTARAS was also activated to the Bisons roster yesterday after signing with the Blue Jays. Kottaras played in 31 games with Charlotte this season before being released. To correspond, RHP BOBBY KORECKY and C JOSH THOLE were both placed on the seven-day disabled list, both retroactive to 8/3.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (56-52) won their fourth straight, 9-7 over the Twins. Home runs from Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion powered the offense, and LaTroy Hawkins' save gave him at least one against each of MLB's 30 clubs. Toronto goes for the four-game sweep tonight (7:07 p.m.).
