August 6, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (51-62) mustered just four hits in a 1-0 loss to the Toledo Mud Hens (46-66) in the series finale on Thursday night at Fifth Third Field in Toledo.

A two-out double by Brian Bogusevic (1-4, 2B) put the tying run in the scoring position for the IronPigs in the top of the ninth, but RHP Guido Knudson (1.0 IP, H, 2 K) fanned Aaron Altherr to end the game and notch his eighth save of the season.

Pigs starter Anthony Vasquez (7-4) was dealt the tough luck loss as he allowed just one run on four hits to go along with two walks and a career-high nine strikeouts in eight innings of work.

The nine strikeouts also matches a season high by an IronPigs pitcher, the first time that it has been done since Phillippe Aumont struck out nine on June 14 at Norfolk.

Toledo starter Kyle Ryan (1-9) gave up just three hits while walking two and fanning eight over eight shutout innings.

The Pigs had the bases loaded with nobody out in the top of the third after three consecutive singles, but Tyler Henson grounded into a 1-2-3 double play and Chase d'Arnaud struck out swinging to end the inning.

Toledo plated the lone run of the game in the fourth as Dixon Machado drew a leadoff walk issued by Vasquez, moved to third on a pair of singles and scored on Steven Moya's RBI single.

The IronPigs will continue their road trip on Friday night when they begin a three-game set with the Columbus Clippers at Huntington Park. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. as LHP Jesse Biddle (2-1, 4.44) gets the ball for the Pigs against Columbus RHP Toru Murata (10-4, 3.06).
