Today's Game
This evening, the Bisons begin a three-day series against the IL West's top team. Buffalo and the Indianapolis Indians will play five games at Victory Field to make-up for the postponements due to inclement weather at Coca-Cola Field April 14 and 15. The two teams will also play a twin bill on Sunday with the Herd serving as the home game in game two. Buffalo will return from the road with a five-game series against Lehigh Valley that start on July 30, through August 2.
Last Game: BUF 4, LOU 3
RHP Nick Tepesch notched his first win as a Bisons' starter by logging seven innings of three-hit baseball against the Bats. Tepesch allowed just two runs, with only one being earned to help secure Buffalo's win to hold off a series sweep. 1B Rowdy Tellez had two more hits on Thursday, while OF Jonathan Davis collected 2RBI in the win. RHP Justin Shafer secured his eighth save of the year, despite allowing a run in the ninth.
Indianapolis (1-1)
The Bisons and Indians are meeting for the only time at Victory Field this regular season. The two teams split a weather-shortened series in Buffalo during the Herd's opening homestand of the season. The final two games of the series were postponed, and are being made up in the Circle City this weekend.
Today's Game 1 Starter: RHP Sean Reid-Foley
RHP Sean Reid-Foley finds himself among the team leaders in several of the pitching categories among qualifiers. His seven wins through 12 starts is tops on the team, in addition to his eight quality starts. The righty's last loss came on June 21 at Pawtucket. Since then, Reid-Foley has gone 5-0 in his last six starts. Reid-Foley has yielded just three hits in his last two starts (six innings each).
Today's Game 2 Starter: RHP Murphy Smith
RHP Murphy Smith takes the ball in the second game for the Bisons, a home game. This will be Smith's fourth spot-start of the season for the Herd. The last time he took the ball first was back on June 29 against the Syracuse Chiefs where he gave up one runs on three hits in five innings of work.
Jonathan Davis
OF Jonathan Davis went 1-4 on Thursday to extend his hitting streak to seven games (11-28, 393). Davis has hit safely in nine of the 11 games he has played since being promoted from New Hampshire (AA). He also added two RBIs in the win for a total of seven as a Bison.
Rowdy Tellez
1B Rowdy Tellez recorded back-to-back multi-hit games against Louisville with a 2-4 performance on Thursday. Tellez was 4-9 in the series, after going 0-1 in the opening game on Tuesday. He now has 20 multi-hit games on the season.
Transactions
On Thursday, the Bisons activated LHP Tim Mayza to the roster after he was optioned by the Blue Jays earlier in the week. INF Gunnar Heidt was placed on the Temporary Inactive list in a corresponding move.
Blue Jays Update
Toronto (46-55) was busy on their off day, trading LHP J.A. Happ to the New York Yankees for INF Brandon Drury and OF Billy McKinney. Tonight they will begin a nine-day road trip tonight in Chicago against the White Sox. Toronto will send RHP Marcus Stroman to the mound against RHP Reynaldo Lopez (8:10 p.m.). After their series with the White Sox, the Jays will head out west to square off against the Oakland Athletics for a three game set.
