(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - The Charlotte Knights and Charlotte Knights Charities are pleased to announce the 2018 class of grant recipients, which features six deserving organizations whose missions align with that of Charlotte Knights Charities.

Under the theme Safe At Home, Charlotte Knights Charities is honored to award each of the following finalists with a grant of $4,000 to go towards programming and materials that enhance the quality of life of both children and adults within their homes and communities: Beds for Kids; Bright Blessings; Renaissance West Community Initiative; Supportive Housing Communities; The Harvest Center of Charlotte; and The Relatives.

"This community has been so welcoming to our organization, it is only right to give back where there is a need," said Dan Rajkowski, Knights Chief Operating Officer and Charlotte Knights Charities Board President. "Right now, the need in Charlotte for family and housing stability is greater than ever, as they both play a role in the economic mobility conversation. We saw this theme throughout the applications we received this year, so the Safe At Home grant class just made sense to our board."

After being notified of their acceptance in July, all six organizations have been invited to a game during Charlotte Knights Charities' Week of Giving for a formal check presentation, a pre-game interview, a first pitch, and the opportunity to spread their mission to fans through the Baker Roofing Community Corner. As an added component of the Week of Giving, a number of Knights front office staff and players will be visiting the sites of the grant recipients to volunteer their time and services.

Founded in 2014 when the Charlotte Knights made the move to Uptown Charlotte, Charlotte Knights Charities has been awarding financial grants to non-profit organizations in the Charlotte area for the last four years. Opening in January and closing in mid-May, this year's grant cycle saw just over 70 applications -- the most in Charlotte Knights Charities history.

The Knights return to Uptown Charlotte on Monday, July 30th to open a seven-game homestand from BB&T Ballpark. Single-game tickets for all games on the upcoming homestand are available now online at CharlotteKnights.com, by phone at 704-274-8282, and in person at the BB&T Ballpark Ticket Office.
